Depending on what leakage problems you might happen to have in your building, sealing your ductwork with the Aeroseal process could produce one or more of these benefits:
- More comfortable indoor air temperatures.
Leaky ductwork forces your HVAC system to work harder to get your indoor air to the desired temperature. But some systems are so leaky that it becomes impossible to get all of the rooms in a building to the right temperature. - Avoiding cross-contamination.
Leaky ducts can lead to air getting from one part of a building and into the occupied space in another place where it is not supposed to be. This can be a particularly important issue in health care facilities, or in other types of facilities which have potential odor sources in the building. - Reducing infiltration of unfiltered, un-conditioned outside air.
Systems which are not properly balanced due to leakage may end up, by default, drawing air into the occupied space through whatever gaps in the building shell are available. This could be small openings around doors and windows, or other gaps in the building’s exterior. This air is not filtered or otherwise conditioned, and so can carry pollen or pollutants.
